A trend coming in hot for 2024 is cinematic and storytelling photography. I absolutely LOVE this trend and the direction that it’s taking the photography industry. So… you want your photos with your lover to look like they are out of a movie?? Here are 5 tips to help you achieve the cinematic look.

Tip 1: Music

Getting in the right vibe is so so important for making your photos look cinematic. Turn on some Noah Kahan, Hozier or The Lumineers to get into your groove. Music is so crucial in helping you relax; when you’re relaxed your photos will turn out so much better! I play music every time I’m photographing a couple.

Tip 2: Be Yourself

These photos are about YOU! Don’t ever do something you feel uncomfortable doing just for a photo. The key to getting cinematic photos is to document YOU. Your photos should feel organic, raw and emotional. Some of my favorite shots are of the details that tell your story.

Tip 3: Directing Over Posing

When taking cinematic photos think of it like a movie. You’re the main character and you’re spending time with the love of your life. Instead of approaching your photoshoot with poses in mind, think about different activities that you can do to showcase your love. Go for a walk, have a picnic, ride a bike; the options are endless.
